It's funny how sometimes the most vivid aspect of a memory can be one of the simplest. I was very young when the only grandfather I've known passed away. I can't tell you about any of the conversations we had, but I remember that my own father always seemed to be laughing when he was around. I picture a very dry sense of humor, cracking jokes and leaving my dad in stitches. I remember fishing! He had a house near the ocean, and we would motor out and we'd hang hand lines off the side of the boat. He always had his pipe. My grandfather had a den downstairs with a small TV, and his chair... The fragrance of that pipe, that den, is what I remember more vividly than anything. Right or wrong... to my memory... "Old Sport" is that fragrance. Old Sport is not a tobacco scent per se, but it will remind you of one. Tonka is a wonderful fragrance with a complexity of notes that will remind you of a very sweet tobacco. For me, it brings me back to one of the most vivid memories I have of my gramps.

The Old Sport scent description is spot on. It does not contain tobacco, but the scent reminds you of a pipe tobacco. it is quite inviting. The Kodiak base is not the top performing base available, but it is close enough to the top to give a superb shave. I count is among my elite soaps.
Wonderful scent reminiscent of days spent with dad — the performance is, of course, stellar. Well done, Bill!
I've used the kodiak base before and have it in a woodsy scent. The base is phenomenal and whips up a lather easily. Normally I don't buy soaps off the internet as I live local to a well stocked shaving store. However I couldn't help but take chance on this scent and I couldn't be happier. They knocked it out of the park.
Have used many top tier soaps over years and the M&M Kodiak base may well be my favorite ever. What sets it apart for me is the outstanding post-shave feel. Even w/o using after shave or balm my skin feels great and moisturized for> 12 hours - incredible! Have full tub of Nantahala and love it in all respects. The performance of my Old Sport sample is the same but the scent is delightful but leans a bit more toward a “cologne” vibe than I usually prefer. Both great soaps and I will surely be looking for any new M&M Kodiak releases to add.
Hi It's a great soap.
