The Book of Kells is one of the greatest achievements of Christian and Irish art.
Dated to sometime around 800 AD, it is a massive and incredibly hand-decorated vellum manuscript containing four gospels of the New Testament that is far more visually stimulating than it is legible across its 340 pages.Thought to have been written by Celtic monks, it would have taken many years, perhaps across generations, to complete. The illustrations show similarities enough to show that at least four individuals were responsible for the incredible art that resides within the pages. Today the book rests at Trinity College in Dublin.

Top notch, top tier, top everything.
My second full tub purchase. Fantastic scent. Pleasing to my nose and (even better) to my spouse's. I won't try to comment on the smell itself except to say that it is a cologne-type one. I will confess to swiping the shaving brush over my forearm so I can grab a smell or two after the shave itself (have I mentioned I like it?). Only thing better than the scent is the way the soap performs. Top notch, top tier, top everything. Lathers very easily, razor glides effortlessly. My face loves this Aon base.
Kells is an elite soap!
I just shaved this morning with a sample of Kells. Be careful, it is soft and easy to overload your brush. I added what seemed like a ton of water and it produced a thick, slick and cushiony lather with a very glossy sheen to it. You don’t have to work very hard to produce a great lather that has very stiff peaks like meringue. You will know you have added enough water when you get a nice sheen. The shave produced a BBS with no weepers or irritation. Post shave is very comfortable also. I will order a full pick of Kells.
Scents are very subjective so I will leave that to the buyer. Suffice it to say that Kells is a pleasant male cologne scent. The scent strength is medium in the jar and slightly lighter when lathered. But the lather is where this soap shines. This soap base provides the user with a dense, slick, shiny lather in a yogurty consistency. It provides wonderful slickness for the blade to pass over your skin and has plenty of residual slickness. Post shave on this soap is fantastic. My face was soft and no hint of irritation or dryness. I have tried many soaps through the years and I would say that Murphy and McNeil soaps will stand up to any of the artisan soaps in the market today. I will definitely be buying other scents.
Kells is a winner!
This is a great scent that is reminiscent of Drakar Noir in a good way. I shaved with a bowl lather and by slowly adding water you will be rewarded with a great lather that is as good as any out there. The lather is rich, thick, with great glide. Slickness and residual slickness were excellent for all three passes. During and post shave feel is exceptional; this is where Bill and Sarah’s soaps shine. This is a hit and I will likely end up buying the set based on the sample.
