From Joe & Black Mountain Shaving:

The scent is named after the Belmont Abbey monastery and my daughter, Abby. It is an incense forward scent combined with warm amber and vanilla with an ever so slight hint of rose. It was developed to be a low-moderate strength scent so that it blends with your surrounding environment instead of over powering it.

Just like our way of life, we keep it simple.

The Bád Mór (Bad Mor) is the largest of "Hooker" style of boats in Ireland.  At 35 to 44 feet, they historically carry bog turf to be used as fuel to heat homes in the nearby communities.

Our Take on a traditional bay rum.

One definition of "Banzai!" is to attack fiercely and recklessly.  That is how we want you to see your day after shaving with it... we hope you'll be ready for anything.

Banzai! mixes citrusy mandarin orange with the slightest of musk on the dry down. With the inclusion of our FROST edition cooling agent, you'll find this scent to be a year-round "pick-me-up" but even more suited to hot summer days.

Pronounced somewhat like Cawt-shee, in Celtic lore that Cat Sidhe (Fairy Cats) were spirit realm creatures who took the form of large black cats with white spots on their chest.  Usually feared, there are also stories of the cats bringing good fortune.

Fresh and earthy, this scent is an homage to the fragrance "Neroli Portofino" (no affiliation).

According to the legend, Lir was a powerful Irish king who married a woman named Aoife, who bore him four children - three sons named Aodh, Fiachra, and Conn, and a daughter named Fionnuala. However, after Aoife became jealous of the children's relationship with their father, she used her magic to transform them into swans and cursed them to live for 900 years on the lakes and rivers of Ireland.

• Note: inspired by drifting lakes and rivers, this scent opens with a citrusy burst of bitter orange and lavender, which is complemented by a spicy heart of clary sage and spearmint. The base notes feature the warm and woody scents of amber and ambroxan.

Love, Loyalty, Friendship
Claddagh rings have been produced for hundreds of years near the town of Galway in Ireland. The heart symbolizes love, the hands to mean friendship, and the crown representing loyalty.

Crisp, and cool with the slightest citrus, this scent is an homage to the fragrance "Silver Mountain Water" (no affiliation).

In Celtic Lore, the Crann Bethadh symbolizes all of nature coming together in harmony. Believing that trees were the ancestors of human beings, when new settlements were formed, a "Tree of Life" was left untouched (or planted) in the middle of the plantation.

A fresh walk through the countryside, this fragrance is an homage to "Green Irish Tweed" (no affiliation).

The scent on this set is inspired by Creed Viking Cologne, is is a fresher brighter cousin of the original.  While it carries the same spicy undertones, the citrus and floral notes are amped that take this fragrance to a familiar, probably more approachable, but no less awesome place.  We think it will make an amazing addition to your den.

Is Irish Luck, or the "Luck o' The Irish" really a thing? No... not really...

No rainbows, no pots of gold. In fact, it turns out the origins of this phrase is distinctly American in nature. It is thought that the term traces back to the 1800's and the California gold rush where it was rumored that many of the prospectors who made it rich were of Irish origin.

An clean oriental aquatic with warm woody undertones, this scent will pair well with "Lucky Number 6" (no affiliation).

Between order and chaos, there resides a "Thin Blue Line".

Worldwide, Officers of the peace put their lives on the line to uphold the laws on which our societies are based. These officers are in this way servants of and for the people, and sometimes we call on them to make the ultimate sacrifice to uphold those things which many of us take for granted.

A citrus & marine aromatic meant to remind you of a fresh summer day, some may recognize this fragrance as an homage to "Light Blue Pour Homme" (no affiliation).

There's a reason Ireland is called the Emerald Isle.  Inspired by time travelling through rolling hills and valleys, "Glen to Glen" will remind you of being somewhere you can really appreciate the land around you and feel just a bit closer to nature and the outdoors.

Originally inspired by a love of golf & nature, some may recognize this scent as an homage to the chypre "Green Valley" (no affiliation).

This product is inspired by the history behind the medieval week and the Vikings who lived on Gotland and everything around this. It has a scent profile with rose in it, as Gotland is called the island of roses, we all know that who stay inside the ring wall in the summers and see this beauty along the winding streets inside the ring wall.
It is also inspired by the Vikings' weapons and boats that certainly smelled of wood, which is where the oud scent comes in.

And Gotland is an island out in the Baltic Sea, so there will be some sea notes in it/blue notes.

Granuaile is dedicated to Grace O'Malley, the Irish Pirate Queen of both history and legend.

Featuring notes of gunpowder, white leather, aged oak, and ocean aquatics that are meant to bring you back to a different time of gritty battles on the high seas.

A mystery spanning ages, the symbol of the Green Man is of uncertain origin. Nearly always, the he is depicted as a face surrounded by leaves and other foliage, sometimes with leaves and or vines growing out of his ears or mouth.

The Mandate of Heaven (Tianming) is the divine authority given China's early emperors.  These individuals were seen as being selected by god and given the right to rule on behalf of this divine entity.  Although this right was god given, it could also be taken away.  This Mandate of Heaven decreed that rulers have a moral responsibility to act for the good of the people, or the Mandate could be lost.

Murphy's IP invokes the uplifting feeling of a big sip of a fresh/citrusy IPA.  We worked hard to pull together a fragrance that does this without coming across as funky or like a stale beer.  This is one IPA where you won't need to change your shirt if you spill it on yourself.

Soap Ingredients:

From the Greek "oura" meaning tail, and "boros" meaning devouring, the Ouroboros is the serpent eating its own tail in an endless cycle that represents the ever turning wheel of life, death, and rebirth. Life and Infinity.  Sacred and mysterious, this fragrance is strong, spicy, and long lasting.

St. James Gate in medieval times was the Western most entrance to the City of Dublin, Ireland, where it stood until 1734. Since that time, the surrounding area has kept the name St. James Gate, despite the actual “gate” having been gone long ago.

The area surrounding St. James Gate has been home to popular breweries since the 17th century. To this day, the area is home to one of the most famous breweries in the world (look it up!)… and which is currently held on a 9000 year lease signed in 1759.

This fragrance is the embodiment of coming in from the cold. The transition from cool to comfort is brought on by sweetness and spice on a base of relaxing woody notes.

The Trinity Knot, or Triquetra, is one of the most recognizable symbols in Celtic culture, and it has come to have many different meanings over time. To Christianity, the knot represents "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost." Other perspectives have come to attribute the Trinity to mean "Earth, Wind, and Sky," or "Mother, Maiden, and Crone".

Bright and fruity, some may recognize this scent as an homage to "Aventus" (no affiliation), one of the most popular fragrances in all of wet shaving.

The Triskele, or triquetra is a symmetrical triple spiral design. It is a symbol with a long pre-celtic history, versions of which are used today (try a search for the symbol of Sicily, or for the symbol of the U.S. Department of Transportation.). Versions of the symbol have been found in prehistoric rock from long before the arrival of Celts in Ireland.

Triskele is our take on a traditional barbershop, but ours replaces much of the "powdery" tones of the typical classic with a spice and incense note that may also remind you of your favorite old record store.

Valle Crucis is a small town between Boone and Banner Elk. It was established in 1842 by a NC Episcopalian Bishop Levi Ives looking to set up a mountain mission. He named it this due to seeing a couple of creeks intersect (more than likely with the Watauga river). It's Latin for vale of the cross. Walking about this town and perhaps lying in the field relaxing, I feel like the bishop might have: a place to restore and seek a feeling of being centered, or simply finding what is within. I hope this scent takes you to a place that enables that.

Scent Profile: 

"Yin and Yang" by Murphy and McNeil is both an homage to our love of Bamboo, but also to the balance that the universe needs to thrive. There are so many elements of our life that are both critical together, but completely separate in nature. 

This collection includes two fragrances, both excellent choices for fans of Woody fragrances:

Yin is Bamboo and Fig, which while maintaining the woody note of bamboo as front-and-center, is brightened by the sweetness of fig.

Yang is Bamboo, Citrus, and Teakwood, which double's down on the woody overtones of bamboo and yet still maintains a freshness due to inclusion of bright citrus.
