From the Greek "oura" meaning tail, and "boros" meaning devouring, the Ouroboros is the serpent eating its own tail in an endless cycle that represents the ever turning wheel of life, death, and rebirth. Life and Infinity. The oldest found reference to the Ouroboros is in a book found within KV62... the official Egyptolical designation for the famous tomb of Tutankhamun. The symbol is found over and over again through history from Roman talismans, to references in medieval alchemy, and even in Native American art. Such a symbol, standing the test of time... millennia even... is both fascinating and mysterious. How has this symbol come to mean so much, to so many?
This Shaving Soap by Murphy and McNeil is composed of a mix of high quality oils and ingredients that create a dense, creamy lather for an excellent shave. The Ouroboros is a mysterious, alluring scent that combines warming amber, patchouli, and incense, with vanilla and florals for an experience that will stand the test of time... and you won't soon forget.

This soap performs great, lathers easily and smells totally unique and awesome, its very incense/orange forward in my experience, and the scent is indeed STRONG, i could smell the soap alone on my skin for hours after the shave which is something i really like. I will definitely buy more products from M&McN, thanks guys!
I was skeptical but now I believe. Very nice soap and definitely s.o. approved.
Ok I bought the sample of this stuff just to make a comparison to the three that I bought in the Kodiak base. I have not used the Kodiak base at the time I am writing this. Let me preface this by saying that I’ve known about Murphy and McNeil for a while and I’ve never really been drawn to using the products. The artwork on the soap containers and the names of the soap put me off and I showed no interest in ever purchasing the product. I was going to wait until the sample ran out but I’ve used it three days in a row and I will go ahead and write this. Initially the scent was not something I would usually go for I read other reviews saying how strong it was that’s what drew me in but after opening it and taking some deep whiffs it was pretty subtle. It’s got kind of a powdery incense smell nothing too strong, and it’s not bad either. The scent has definitely grown on me to where I enjoy it.Performance wise the soap is easy to load. I use the whole half ounce pushed into a flat bottom lathering bowl. I’ve loaded 20 seconds each time I’ve used it and that is plenty of lather to get me through three passes. The soap is thirsty and requires some water and the end product Is a thick, dense, slick lather. I think it has a pretty good hydration range, the first time I used it I did not put enough water into it and still got an amazingly good shave. There is a good deal of residual sickness with the soap too. The real winner with this product is the post shave feel. I wasn’t really sure what to expect using this product but my God it is awesome. It doesn’t make sense to me how your face can feel so good after you run a razor blade across it from multiple directions. The post shave may not last as long as some of the other sought after artisans, but it is definitely just as luxurious feeling. I have forgone using a post shave product the last two shaves with this soap to test it and see how my face would do. Definitely top notch. Overall this product is something I will definitely use more of and more frequently and it is something I can definitely get behind. Customer service is also awesome dealing with Bill.
I normally do not buy soaps from reviews. I wanted to add some different soap brands to my daily routine. I wanted something unique and different . I am glad that found this great soap, It lathers up very nicely. It is slick and provides a comfortable shave. Post shave feeling was great. for limited sense of smell it smelled great and it even lingered throughout the day. I will definitely being more of your soaps in the future.
So, I’ll be honest. Incense is not my favorite smell. The dry scent off the puck is a little off putting to my nose. However, once the soap is loaded onto a brush and lathered, the smell blooms into something much more complex. It smells much better lathered. And of course, the performance is top notch. Works great with a kamisori! Another job well done M&M!
